Volunteers are the life blood of a community, particularly in a small town like Spring Lake Heights.  

 Mayor H. Frances Enright announces the creation of the Spring Lake Heights Volunteer Appreciation Program.   The Volunteer Appreciation Program seeks to properly acknowledge the efforts of members of the Spring Lake Heights community, who through their volunteerism and self-sacrifice, demonstrate their love of community, work toward its improvement and the betterment of its residents  

Who may apply?

• Any individual, organization, group, family, or business actively engaged in voluntary service directed at the needs or improvement of the Borough of Spring Lake Heights or its residents.
• Award nominees should be residents of Spring Lake Heights and consent to be nominated.
• All volunteer activities of the Nominee must be unpaid. However, nominees who receive a nominal stipend for their service may be eligible.
• To be eligible, the volunteer activity should have lasted for at least six uninterrupted months and should be ongoing.

How are the nominees judged?

The following criteria are utilized in reviewing and judging nominations:

• Community needs and solution — Activity should meet a community need or concern.
• Connections building — Hands-on service that results in building connections between the community.
• Ongoing involvement — To be eligible, an activity should be at least six months in duration. One exception is the category of emergency relief.
• Impact — Demonstrated real impact from the activity. How much funds were raised? How many people were impacted by the nominee's service?
• Innovation — Activity involving innovative or unique approaches to solving community needs.

How are honorees recognized?
Honorees will be recognized by a Mayoral Proclamation bestowed at a public meeting and posted on the Borough's webpage.  A Roster of Honorees and their accomplishments will be maintained by the Borough.  The Borough will contact the local press and other government officials to bring additional light to the Honorees' community service.

To nominate a volunteer, email Mayor H. Frances Enright at fenright@springlakehts.com and provide her the following information:

(1)  Your Name, Address and Contact information

(2)  The Name, Address and Contact Information of your Nominee

(3)  The Story of your Nominee

            (a)  ACTION  - What does your nominee do?

            (b)  NEED - What community need does your nominee address?

            (c)  IMPACT - What is different as a result of your nominees' service?

            (d)  INSPIRATION - What makes your nominee special or unique?
